My Top 10 All-Time Favorite Movies

Most people don't like Sundays. Not me, though. I use the “most boring day of the week“ to spend some quality time with myself – watching movies with interesting plot twists, while preparing a cup of hot cocoa and cozying up under my blanket. There's nothing that makes me more relaxed than spending my Sunday nights like this.

The only thing I need besides a good snack is a good movie title, and that can be very hard to find sometimes. I know the struggle, so here's a post to help you if you're having the same difficulties as I am from time to time. Most of these movies you probably heard of or even watched already, but for those who didn't – you won't regret watching these.

Read ahead, I promise NO SPOILERS!

10. The Triangle

The Triangle is the last one on the list, but don't be fooled thinking that it is a movie not worth watching. I put it on the 10th place since I am usually not a huge fan of horror movies, altough I did like this one very much because it actually has a very good plot and is not just another scary movie with zombies, ghosts etc. The ending was probably the best part about it, even though I spent like an hour after watching it reading possible explanations. Definitely worth watching if you're a horror/mystery movie fan.

9. Me Before You

When I first saw this movie I was like “there's no way I'm gonna watch this, sounds way too tragic and cheesy at the same time“. Imagine my surprise when this movie actually become one of my all time favorites. Yes, it is a sad story but most of time while watching this movie, I had a smile on my face because the story is told in such a beautiful, even humorous way at times which is simply hard to resist. While Sam Claflin is the ultimate guy crush, make sure to have the tissues next to you anyway, because you will cry. A LOT.

8. The Ninth Gate

Maybe it's just me and my crush on Johnny Depp, but this movie has been on my all time favs list since forever. I remember I was amazed by it when I first saw it with my parents as a little child, and the second and third time I watched it when I grew up, made me like the movie even more. Roman Polanski is seriously an amazing director and definitely knows how to make an atmospheric story that will make you wonder about it even days after you've watched it. In the movie world filled with stories that repeat themselves, this movie will be a true refreshment.

7. (500) Days of Summer

Opening sentence: This is not a love story. They weren't joking. It's a cute story (not a love one) with loaaads of sarcasm, which I absolutely love. The characters are very well developed, thus whenever you think you know what's going to happen, trust me – you don't. It will not be the movie with an expected ending and it might leave you feeling a bit sad once it's over because of the general atmosphere of the movie, thinking about all the times you felt the same, but it's a realistic love story told in an unique way. Loved it.

6. Pan's Labyrinth

Many people confuse the title and the poster of this movie with a children's movie, but it's not. If you're one of the people who already saw this one, then you sure know what I'm talking about. Pan's Labyrinth is a Mexican movie, a fantasy movie, one might say, which reveals its secrets to you one step at a time. I've never seen a movie more unique and impressive than this. The visual aspect is one of the best parts, but the story behind it... It's in a league of its own.

5. Shutter Island

No wonder this movie's on the list, right? Definitely one of the best ones I have ever seen, and I am sure many would share the opinion with me. Leonardo di Caprio is perfect as always in this movie that left me wondering for days about what was actually real and what was not.

4. Drive

If you're expecting long and boring narratives – forget about this movie. The focus is mainly on visuals and the audio aspect of movie. Known for his vivid scenery, Nicolas Winding Refn did not dissapoint his fans (including me!) with this masterpiece. Not to mention the soundtrack (Kavinsky's Nightcall etc.) which is the definition of perfection. See for yourself – this is a movie to enjoy!

3. Pulp Fiction

A classic. Tarantino's masterpiece and one of the most popular movies ever, probably. If you haven't seen it yet, then I don't know what you're waiting for. It has been an all time favorite for a long time, with Mia Wallace (pictured above) being my favorite character. The girl sure knows how to enjoy.

2. Fight Club

To be honest, my first reaction to the movie title was – boring movie made for men who like to watch fist fights and other stuff that us girls don't ever need to see on the screen. Oh, how wrong I was. The movie is nothing like that, Fight Club relatively being only a metaphor for what you're about to see. Be careful not to read anything about this movie anywhere on the internet, it's very easy to spoil it if you know one small detail. But if you don't, you'll be amazed. I know I was and I still am.

1. Interstellar

Hmmm Matthew McConaughey - I can't really be objective here. Jokes aside, Interstellar is probably one of the best movies of the 21st century. It's a thought-provoking movie and requires a lot of concentration to get the most out of it, so don't opt for this one if you're looking for something just to relax to while scrolling your Instagram feed. This is not that kind of a movie. You might even want to watch it twice, as I did. Once was not enough, that's how awesome it is. It's a movie that really gives you that weird, but pleasant feeling you'll be having for days. Plus, Matthew look like he's from a fairytale. It's a win-win combination, admit it.

What are some of your favorites?
