The Secret To Gorgeous Summer Hair

Ever since I was little, my parents made sure I realized the importance of taking care of your own skin, hair and your body. Having healthy habits when it comes to this is something you will carry with yourself for the rest of your life – and is very very important. Do you ever feel like if your hair looks good and shiny, that make up became less important? It’s like everything looks better if you’re having one of those good hair days. Sun can be quite rough on your hair and coming back from your vacay might bring you tanned skin, but it will also give you hair that’s much more dry than it was before you took off. That’s why you need to take proper care when it comes to your hair – don’t neglect it, you’ll thank me later.

Not taking care of your hair after sun exposure is like the number one beauty sin!! Be extra careful if you have recently dyed your hair or if your hair is dry in general. Chlorine and salt can seriously damage your hair so hydration must become your top priority. Luckily, there are many products you can find in your drugstore to help you with this – moisturizing masks, conditioners, after sun sprays etc. You have to find the products that fit you and your hair type the best and then stick to it. Don’t forget to use it!

What you can do, as well, is to create a shield for your hair which will protect it from the bad stuff – chlorine and salt. One excellent way to do this is to use conditioner and apply it on wet hair BEFORE you enter the pool or the sea. This way, your hair will only absorb the conditioner and not the chlorine/salt.

I didn’t mention it above, but using hair oils can do miracles for your hair. Yes, oils can be super greasy but they will give your hair the essential care it needs. You could use coconut oil as a natural moisturizer, or you could opt for some of the products from the drugstore. I always recommend using natural products, but sometimes it’s quicker just to visit the store and grab the first thing you see on the shelf. The problem is that sometimes we get fooled by the prices and think that the more exprensive it is, the better. That’s unfortunately not always the case. Read the product descriptions and ingredients carefully before you chose your summer hair savior. Whatever products you decide to use, make sure to also be careful with your hair when it comes to combing and styling – use a detangling brush since it’s super soft on the hair.

Follow these tips for the rest of the sunshine-y days and your hair will thank you!

Your hair is absolutely gorgeous! I agree that it is so important to keep your hair healthy and clean. I love using hair oils, because they make my hair look so shiny and fresh, without overdoing it. I also find that it is so important to use heat protection spray on hair before applying a styling tool.
