How to Deal With Anxiety

This is a post that is pretty important to me. Despite having a perfect looking life on social media, I deal with anxiety and depression. I try to be very open about that with my followers (especially if you follow me on Snapchat!) because I know how hard it can be to talk about. I know that you feel weird and alone and like you’re just a bother to everyone you talk to about it. While this is NOT true and I always say I am here to talk to about anything and everything, I also wanted to share my go-to techniques for dealing with anxiety so the next time you start feeling stressed you can try some out!

1. Pressure and warmth

This is a very effective way to help lower your stress levels. Some people use a weighted blanket for this (which I really want to try) and swear by it! Then there is me, who is addicted to showers and baths. My shower head is turned up to allow a lot of pressure and when I feel stressed I jump in and just stand there like a zombie for a while. And it works.

2. Turn off your phone

One of the biggest anxiety inducers is your phone. Whether it is social media and seeing things that trigger you, waiting for a text from a certain person, whatever it is, it starts with your phone. So turn it off. While it may seem hard to tear yourself away from it (why are we so addicted to putting ourselves through bad situations?), trust me, it’s worth it.

3. Let your mind wander

Once your phone is off, find an activity that lets your mind wander. Whether that is reading a book or watching a really interesting movie. Find something that will take your mind away from all of the negative emotions and bring you somewhere else.

4. Get outside

If the weather is even remotely decent enough, GET OUTSIDE. I’m telling you, fresh air will do wonders. I know it takes a lot of energy to get yourself out of bed when you feel depressed or anxious, but it is a very quick way to make that all go away.

I really hope these tips help you! And don’t forget – I am only a message away.
