Corfu in a Weekend

So this is a place that not many people know about, & one not many people go to when visiting Greece. And that is a huge mistake. I can’t believe that anyone would pass up this island… it was absolutely beautiful. While Santorini & Mykonos are dry islands, this is a lush, green & gorgeous island. There are waterfalls, forests, cliffs & crystal clear water. Corfu is an island that is a MUST, so plan on seeing Corfu in a weekend.

Where to stay

We stayed on the north side of the island & absolutely loved it. There is a lot to see throughout the island though, so research & see what you want to focus on. Is it the city? Hiking? Beaches? Each part of the island offers something different. If you stay on the north side, however, you will have a lot of amazing views & hikes with a small town feel.

We stayed at a very authentic & quaint hotel called Villa De Loulia. It had beautiful grounds with a very large (& very clean & nice) pool, with little kittens running all around. We ended up spending a few hours just hanging out in the grounds because we loved it so much (& you can tell we really loved exploring Corfu in a weekend). One thing to note – it did not have A/C, so be ready to spend your time outside & enjoying what Corfu has to offer.

Where to eat

While in Corfu, we ate at one of the most picturesque (if not THE most picturesque) restaurants we have ever eaten in, 7th Heaven. It is incredibly close to Villa De Loulia; we walked there without breaking a sweat. This restaurant juts out over the cliffside & even has a glass floor lookout. Plus, the food was delicious. It was the best restaurant we ate at on our trip!!

What to do

There is so much to do in Corfu in a weekend, I don’t even know where to begin. But I would say – Corfu isn’t a place where you are meant to be lazy on a beach. While there are some great beaches, it would be a waste to not be adventurous & explore the island! Get on your hikin’ shoes & get out there. Check out the waterfalls, the views, the inlets… it’s all so beautiful.

The two spots I would absolutely recommend going to are Akra Drastis & Loggas Beach. Akra Drastis is just breathtaking… I can’t put it into words, so a picture will have to suffice. But it is quite a hike, so be prepared. What I loved most about it was how unknown it seemed to be. For such a small area, there were very few people when we were there. We really got to enjoy it!

Loggas Beach is where you need to go for the sunset. It has the prettiest views on the whole island, along with some pretty cool hidden beaches. This is where 7th Heaven is, too, so it’s a great place for dinner!

Random tips

  • BRING. ATHLETIC. SHOES. Don’t try to just be all cute for pictures like I was… change your shoes like a smart person when you get to the pretty locations.
  • Bring your own water when you go on hikes. The drinks when you get to the beaches are pretty expensive!
